Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has announced a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. The company confirmed that it has enabled access to 25,000 public charging stations for its electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCVs) across more than 150 Indian cities, marking one of the most extensive charging networks for cargo EVs in the country.
In a major step to accelerate this growth, Tata Motors has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 13 leading Charging Point Operators (CPOs), including Charge Zone, Zeon Electric, Kazam, Volttic, and Ampvolts. These collaborations aim to install an additional 25,000 public chargers within the next 12 months, further boosting the confidence of fleet operators and logistics companies transitioning to electric mobility.
All newly added charging stations will be seamlessly integrated into Fleet Edge, Tata Motors’ connected vehicle platform. This integration will provide operators with real-time navigation support, charger availability updates, and optimised route planning, ensuring operational efficiency and reduced downtime.
Highlighting the achievement, Pinaki Haldar, Vice President & Business Head – SCVPU, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, said:
“With over 10,000 Ace EVs already deployed on Indian roads and having collectively covered more than 6 crore kilometres, customer confidence in electric cargo mobility is at its peak. The growing adoption of our new Ace Pro EV further validates this trust. By expanding charging infrastructure through these strategic partnerships, we are ensuring our customers enjoy range confidence, enhanced profitability, and a reliable pathway to zero-emission logistics.”
Tata Motors’ electric SCV lineup, which includes the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV, and Ace EV 1000, caters to diverse urban and semi-urban cargo applications, ranging from e-commerce and FMCG distribution to last-mile logistics. The company has also established a strong after-sales support ecosystem with over 200 dedicated EV service centres across India, reinforcing its commitment to hassle-free fleet operations.
This strategic expansion not only enhances Tata Motors’ leadership in India’s EV cargo mobility space but also aligns with the nation’s broader goals of decarbonising transportation and building a robust clean energy infrastructure for the future.
