Montra Electric eHCV (IPL Tech), part of the Murugappa Group’s TI Clean Mobility, has become the first electric truck OEM in India to sign a strategic partnership with Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) under the National Highway for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) initiative. The collaboration aims to fast-track the adoption of over 1,000 electric trucks across multiple sectors and routes, driving large-scale commercial viability for clean freight.
Strategic Collaboration for Faster EV Adoption
The partnership establishes a framework for Montra Electric eHCV and EoDB to accelerate fleet adoption by offering blended climate financing and pre-agreed commercial terms. The initiative will enable faster decision-making for fleet operators and end customers, ensuring seamless integration with future-ready charging and energy station networks.
As part of the agreement, Montra Electric will also collaborate with NHEV stakeholders on the Connected Commercial Vehicle (CCV) protocol, allowing its trucks to be pilot-tested in real operating conditions on key highway corridors and high-volume freight routes under NHEV’s Tech Trial IV. These pilots will provide replicable operational and commercial data for fleet operators across India.
Government and Industry Endorsement
Abhijeet Sinha, National Program Director, EoDB & NHEV, said,
“This collaboration facilitates IPL Tech’s deployment under the Government of India’s NHEV Pilot, covering both technical and commercial aspects. It enables an advanced Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) and blended climate financing for 1,000+ electric trucks.”
Montra Electric MD Jalaj Gupta commented,
“This partnership moves us from intent to execution. By working with EoDB, we aim to lower adoption barriers and make electric trucking a profitable, practical choice for transporters and end customers nationwide.”
Driving India’s EV Freight Revolution
The collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s vision to decarbonise freight, reduce logistics costs, and strengthen the country’s EV ecosystem. Montra Electric eHCV is set to play a pivotal role in making India’s freight sector more sustainable and commercially viable.
