The Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 program has awarded an order for 1021 electric buses to JBM Ecolife Mobility Pvt Ltd, a division of JBM Auto Limited. The company stated that the order is worth roughly Rs 5,500 crore. Nineteen cities in Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Haryana will receive the buses. With this increase, there are now more than 11,000 electric buses in the company’s order book.

JBM Ecolife Mobility will manage the entire execution process under this tender. To guarantee on-time payments to electric bus operators and enhance the financial viability of industry players, the project incorporates a Payment Security Mechanism (PSM). Over the course of their 12-year deployment, the e-buses are anticipated to carry over 32 billion passenger e-kilometers and cut CO2 emissions by more than 1 billion tonnes.

By deploying electric buses throughout several states, the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme-2 seeks to modernise public transportation networks and reduce urban pollution. The scheme contains provisions for thorough maintenance services and a Payment Security Mechanism to guarantee operators’ financial stability. This second phase aims to extend clean travel outside of metropolitan areas by focussing on tier-2 and tier-3 cities, building on previous electric mobility initiatives. By drastically cutting carbon emissions from the transport sector and enhancing connection for millions of people, the plan supports India’s larger climate ambitions.

JBM Auto has been in the public transport industry for ten years this year. Over the next three to four years, the firm intends to serve about 20 billion people and travel 3 billion e-kilometers.
