With the purchase of 113 electric buses by the Indian Army for troop mobility, the nation will be able to take major steps toward the government’s green ambitions. The 250-kilometer-distance, 40-seater buses are currently in the trial stage of procurement and will be mostly used in semi-hilly and plain areas.

The purchase represents a significant turning point in the Indian Armed Forces’ transition to environmentally friendly transportation options and complies with the government of India’s direction on zero carbon emissions.

Further, this initiative not only aligns with the global shift towards sustainable practices but also exemplifies India’s leadership in leveraging indigenous capabilities to achieve the set environmental goals.

This move will help foster innovation in the defence sector and set a procedure for other government agencies and industries to follow suit. From the battlefield to the forefront of eco-conscious strides, the Indian Armed Forces have embarked on a greener future where national security and environmental stewardship would go hand in hand.
