A recent effort to win the Greatest Altitude Change by an Electric Car title from the renowned GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSTM was made by Hyundai Motor Company’s award-winning IONIQ 5. The IONIQ 5, which was organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and piloted by the skilled team from Evo India, accomplished an impressive 5,802-meter altitude change.

Umling La in Leh Ladakh, India’s highest driveable point, is 5,799 meters above sea level. The trip started there and concluded at Kuttanad, Kerala, which is three meters below sea level.

“We are immensely proud to witness the Hyundai IONIQ 5 make history by attaining the Guinness World Record™ for the Greatest altitude change by an electric car,” stated Unsoo Kim, Managing Director, Hyundai Motor India Limited. “Hyundai’s steadfast dedication to innovation, technological superiority, and sustainability is demonstrated by this accomplishment. The IONIQ 5’s resilience and engineering skill are demonstrated by how well it performs in such harsh environments. Our goal at Hyundai is to push the envelope and establish new standards in e-mobility, and this accomplishment further demonstrates our commitment to “Progress for Humanity.”

More than 4,900 miles of difficult terrain and severe weather were traversed throughout the 14-day record-breaking feat.

This accomplishment demonstrated the IONIQ 5’s remarkable performance, cutting-edge technology, and longevity. The Hyundai IONIQ 5 demonstrated its leadership in electric mobility in a variety of environments, including the humid coastal climate of Kerala and the frigid cold and high mountain passes of the Himalayas.
