GenCell Inc. and Advanced Parking Technologies (APT) have jointly unveiled the EVOX® system, a cutting-edge solution designed to optimise electric vehicle (EV) yard management for OEMs and fleet operators. The collaboration aims to address critical challenges in high-capacity EV charging and logistics, providing resilient, zero-emission power without relying on additional grid infrastructure.
The EVOX system combines hydrogen fuel cells, battery storage, power conversion technologies, and proprietary energy management software to deliver reliable, off-grid DC fast charging. It enhances yard operations by supporting up to 70% higher vehicle throughput, reducing labour and shuttle movements, and ensuring uninterrupted charging to maximise fleet readiness. Live demonstrations at Michigan Technical Resource Park have validated the system’s performance, demonstrating its potential for broader adoption across the automotive industry.
Ron Cardwell, President of GenCell Inc., highlighted the business value of EVOX, stating that it provides reliable, zero-emission power precisely where vehicles are staged, enabling OEMs to close power gaps and improve operational efficiency. Mike Jones, CEO of APT, added that integrating grid-optional charging directly into yards enhances existing storage and management services, reducing bottlenecks and supporting sustainability objectives.
The system’s integration with GenCell GEMS™ energy management software ensures optimal allocation of power, adapting to varying operational demands while maintaining reliability during power outages. By enabling simultaneous fast charging for multiple vehicles, EVOX minimises downtime and labour costs, offering a practical solution for logistics operators and fleet managers seeking efficiency and environmental compliance.
The launch of EVOX marks a significant step in enabling high-throughput, zero-emission EV yard operations, combining innovative hydrogen fuel cell technology with smart energy management to meet the growing demands of electrified transportation.
