Audi Unveils Second Facelift for Q7

Audi has unveiled a second makeover for its Q7 SUV. The current-generation Q7 debuted globally in 2015 and had its first makeover in June 2019. India received the Q7 makeover in 2022. The second makeover, displayed above, includes stylistic changes as well as additional functions.

The most noticeable alteration for the premium SUV is that it seems to share LED headlights with the soon-to-be announced electric Audi Q6 e-tron, which sits higher than before. These may be updated with laser diodes to show a new design daytime running light, with four alternative “light signatures” available through the infotainment system. The OLED taillights now provide four alternative light characteristics.

A new safety system has also been added, in which the warning lights flash whenever another car approaches a stationary Q7 from behind, indicating a collision is imminent.

The Q7 also gets a new front grille with slats in a teardrop form on base vehicles and a L shape on top-tier cars to set it apart from Audi’s lower-end models. There are five new alloy wheel styles available, with diameters ranging from 20 to 22 inches.

Outside, the air intakes now match the colour of the rest of the vehicle’s trim, which can be gloss black when equipped with the new Black and Black Plus packages. Aside from that, additional ornamental trim pieces have been “dramatically reduced” in order to make the Q7 “look more robust”.

Inside, the infotainment has been upgraded to allow passengers to stream music from apps including Spotify and Amazon Music, while the Virtual Cockpit has been upgraded with a lane-change warning system. As standard, the interior is upholstered in contrasting grey leather, with three new trim finishes available: gold, blue and red.

Mechanically, the Q7 remains pretty much the same as before, although minor tweaks to its four-wheel steering system are said to improve ease of use. The engine range is unchanged, with a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 offering outputs of 230hp and 286hp, and a 3.0-litre turbo petrol V6 offering 340hp. The range-topping SQ7 continues to use the same 507hp, 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 for a 0-100kph time of 4.1sec and a top speed electronically limited to 250kph.

However, it’s now available with a torque-vectoring differential as part of the optional Advanced Suspension Package. As before, select markets will get the Q7 in three trim levels – S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. There is no news on the Q7 facelift’s India launch, however, we expect Audi to bring the updated SUV to India sometime in the future.
