Uber has launched Uber Green, an environmentally conscious service, in Bengaluru, giving locals the opportunity to reserve environmentally friendly rides in electric cars (EVs). Priyank Kharge, the Karnataka IT minister, unveiled the first Uber Green cars during the Bengaluru Tech Summit in 2023.

Uber Green has ambitions to extend its service to new areas in India’s startup capital. It is now accessible in several parts of the city, including central Bengaluru. Uber Green will be available to users throughout the city on Thursday through their applications.

Priyank Kharge said, “Improving air quality in Bengaluru is our collective responsibility. This launch by Uber endorses our commitment to a green summit. We have taken tangible steps that pave the way for impactful and meaningful changes inu the long run and foster a culture of sustainability.”

Prabhjeet Singh, president of Uber India, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability. He said that Bengaluru is the second Indian city to have the eco-friendly service, after Mumbai.

Singh added, “In the Initial days, the wait time for green rides might be higher owing to higher demand. But we aim to reduce this considerably as the service expands.”
