Tata Prestolite Electric has revealed that it has sold 100,000 electric drives and is still growing.

In order to design, manufacture, supply, and service electric drivetrain systems, Tata AutoComp, which offers goods and services to Tier 1 suppliers as well as Indian and international automobile OEMs, formed a joint venture with Prestolite Electric of China in January 2020. Forty-seven months later, on November 14, 2023, the joint venture Tata Prestolite Electric stated that it had achieved its first significant sales milestone of 100,000 electric drives. This indicates the rapid transition to more environmentally friendly modes of transportation. In India, the total number of electric vehicle sales has surpassed three million, with approximately 2.60 million of those sales occurring in the last three years.

TACO Presolite Electric, which caters to all segments of the electric vehicle industry encompassing two- and three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and buses, has clearly benefited from the growing demand for EVs in India particularly for two- and three-wheelers which account for an over 90% share of the India EV market.

Prestolite Electric, which is owned by the Broad Ocean Motor Group, China which also owns Shanghai E-Drive Solutions, has access to technologies for various powertrain products including motors, controllers as well as integrated drivetrain (integrated motor, inverter and transmission).

Tata AutoComp’s offering for the EV segment includes motors, controllers, integrated drivetrain (integrated motor, inverter and reducer), battery pack, BMS, battery thermal management system, batter cooling plates, inverter cooling modules, chillers, e- compressors, radiators as well as EV chargers required to charge the EVs.
