A non-binding Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Shell India Markets and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility to work together on the establishment of public charging stations throughout the nation.

The partnership will install chargers at sites where Tata EV customers commonly visit by utilising Shell’s extensive fuel station network and TPEM’s data from over 1.4 lakh Tata EVs on Indian roads.

The partners are also looking into launching easy-to-use payment methods and loyalty plans, which will benefit TPEM’s clients greatly.

With four products in its lineup and a 71% market share in electric passenger cars, Tata Motors now leads the EV market in India. By opening the nation’s first EV-only shop in Gurugram and collaborating with other charge station operators to expand India’s charging infrastructure, TPEM has spearheaded the growth of the EV ecosystem in the nation.

With a 98–99% charger uptime, Shell EV Recharge sites offer dependable and lightning-fast charging. Convenient retail, including alternatives for fresh food and beverages, is also available at these locations. Each of these elements offers ease and extra value while also improving the overall customer experience.

“We are thrilled to work with Shell as we pursue an open partnership to develop India’s electric vehicle ecosystem. We want to increase the country’s current EV adoption rate by expanding the charging infrastructure through this agreement, especially as our customer base keeps growing. With Shell’s unmatched customer service and TPEM’s in-depth knowledge of EV usage, this strategic partnership is sure to significantly alter India’s charging habits, which will increase the country’s EV adoption,” said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles.

“Shell is committed to defining the EV charging experience by offering integrated solutions that prioritise convenience, safety, and sustainability. Our dedication to using 100% certified renewable sources combined with our ultra-fast and reliable chargers ensures that our customers enjoy a sustainable, hassle-free and efficient charging experience. Our strategic partnership with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility aims to promote the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the country by leveraging digital integration and customer-centric initiatives,” Sanjay Varkey, Director, of Shell India Markets said.
