Tata Motors has ushered in a new era of electrified public transport in Bengaluru by delivering cutting-edge Starbus EVs to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC). Following the agreement between TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd., a Tata Motors subsidiary, and BMTC, this significant event marks a crucial milestone. Under the terms of the agreement, 921 cutting-edge 12-meter low-floor electric buses will be supplied, run, and maintained over a 12-year period.

Joining BMTC’s fleet is the homegrown innovation, the Tata Starbus EV, which boasts an outstanding design and features that set the standard for the industry for a comfortable and sustainable commute. The innovative battery technology and next-generation architecture of these zero-emission electric buses, which were created under the Made in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat projects, ensure safe, comfortable, and convenient intra-city transit across Bengaluru.

The inauguration of Tata Motors’ smart electric bus was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Siddaramaiah, alongside other dignitaries. Ms. G Sathyavathi, IAS, Managing Director of BMTC, expressed delight in inducting Tata Motors’ state-of-the-art buses, highlighting their exceptional performance, aligning seamlessly with BMTC’s commitment to reducing carbon footprint and enhancing citizens’ quality of life. These buses not only contribute to eco-friendly transportation but also offer noise-free and comfortable mass mobility within the city.

Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay, CEO and MD of TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Limited, emphasized their commitment to cutting-edge, eco-friendly offerings, expressing elation at witnessing the induction of Starbus EVs in BMTC’s fleet. He expressed confidence in these buses further strengthening BMTC’s fleet, ensuring safe, comfortable, tech-driven, and energy-efficient public transportation.

Tata Motors has already supplied over 1,500 electric buses across various Indian cities, collectively covering more than 10 crore kilometers with an uptime exceeding 95%. The Tata Starbus EV, a groundbreaking e-bus, sets new standards for urban commuting. Its full-electric drivetrain optimizes energy consumption, resulting in low energy usage and operational costs. Offering ease of boarding, comfortable seating, and driver-friendly operations, it prioritizes zero emissions while integrating advanced safety features like electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, air suspension, Intelligent Transport System, and panic buttons.
