Ola Electric has unveiled a series of groundbreaking innovations at its annual event Sankalp 2025, reinforcing its vision of building India’s EV future with homegrown technologies.
The headline announcement was the 4680 Bharat Cell, India’s first indigenously developed lithium-ion battery cell. With 10% higher energy density and an expected lifespan of nearly 15 years, the cell will power Ola’s upcoming scooters. Alongside that, the company introduced the Ferrite Motor, the country’s first rare-earth-free motor, eliminating dependence on imported neodymium magnets. Ola plans to transition its full vehicle portfolio to these motors within the next two to three quarters.
Two new scooters powered by the Bharat Cell were launched – the S1 Pro+ priced at ₹1,69,999 and the Roadster X+ at ₹1,89,999. Deliveries will begin around Navratri (September 2025), with a limited-time ₹10,000 discount valid until August 17. Additionally, the sporty S1 Pro Sport variant, featuring gas-charged suspension, ADAS, and carbon fibre details, was revealed at ₹1,49,999, with deliveries slated for January 2026.
Ola also showcased MoveOS 6, its next-generation AI-powered operating system for EVs, offering voice assistant features, camera integration, customisable ride experiences, and efficiency improvements of up to 15%. The rollout is expected in early 2026. Complementing this is the new Gen 4 modular platform, designed to support two- and three-wheelers, drones, and even humanoids, boasting higher power, reduced weight, and lower costs.
A major highlight was the unveiling of the Diamondhead electric motorcycle prototype, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2 seconds. Expected to launch in 2027 at under ₹5 lakh, the bike represents Ola’s “moonshot” project.
CEO Bhavish Aggarwal emphasised the company’s “India Inside” strategy, highlighting Ola’s mission to design and manufacture core EV technologies – from cells and motors to platforms and software – entirely within India. The move aligns with national targets of 30% EV adoption by 2030 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
With these launches, Ola Electric aims to strengthen its position as a leader in India’s EV ecosystem while reducing reliance on global supply chains.
