Leading EV battery maker Neuron Energy and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) pioneer Pointo have established a strategic alliance. Through this partnership, high-capacity lithium-ion batteries will be leased to commercial e-rickshaws in India, which will be a significant step toward the advancement of sustainable electric mobility in the nation.

Neuron Energy is supporting the industry’s switch from lead-acid to lithium-ion technology by supplying up to 12,000 5.1KW lithium-ion batteries for L3 category e-rickshaws starting in August 2024 and continuing through the following year. It is anticipated that this collaboration will greatly accelerate the expansion of environmentally friendly transportation, especially in important areas like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Kolkata.

Lead-acid, lithium-ion, and sodium-ion batteries are just a few of the many electric mobility solutions offered by well-known company Neuron Energy. As part of its EV service model, Pointo will lease Neuron’s cutting-edge battery packs through this program, giving e-rickshaw drivers high-performing, reasonably priced battery substitutes. The action is anticipated to improve the infrastructure for electric mobility and hasten the deployment of next-generation batteries in India’s quickly expanding EV market.

Pratik Kamdar, CEO and Co-Founder of Neuron Energy, commented, “This partnership with Pointo represents a crucial step in advancing sustainable mobility solutions. By ensuring a consistent and high-quality supply of lithium-ion batteries, we are committed to driving the future of electric mobility in India’s e-rickshaw market.”

Leasing of batteries as a service is becoming more and more recognized as a game-changing way to increase the uptake of electric vehicles. As part of a better future, Neuron Energy and Pointo’s relationship highlights their shared commitment to promoting environmentally friendly transportation and enhancing the Indian EV ecosystem.
