Mercedes-Benz has officially lifted the curtain on the all-new GLC EV, its first fully electric version of the popular mid-size SUV, during the IAA Mobility show in Munich. The GLC, one of Mercedes’ global bestsellers, now enters the electric age with cutting-edge technology, impressive range figures, and a completely reimagined interior.
Powertrain and Performance
The new GLC EV will be offered in two trims: the GLC400 4MATIC and the GLC300+.
-
The GLC400 4MATIC comes with dual motors and an all-wheel-drive system delivering 483 horsepower, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds.
-
The GLC300+, with a single rear-mounted motor, produces 369 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
Both versions feature an advanced two-speed transmission, optimising acceleration at low speeds while ensuring efficiency during highway driving.
Battery and Range
At the heart of the GLC EV lies a 94 kWh battery supported by an 800-volt electrical system. Mercedes-Benz claims a driving range of up to 713 km (WLTP) for the higher-spec variant, placing it among the longest-range EVs currently on the market. Real-world figures are expected to be closer to 605 km depending on conditions.
The SUV supports ultra-fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. With high-speed DC charging, drivers can add about 257 km of range in just 10 minutes—a major boost for long-distance travel.
Design and Exterior
The design remains true to the familiar GLC profile but with notable updates. The EV version is slightly larger, gaining around 5 inches in length. A distinctive optional grille with 942 illuminated elements and a glowing LED outline emphasises the futuristic electric identity. Aerodynamic efficiency has also been prioritised to maximise driving range.
Interior and Technology
Inside, Mercedes has introduced its most advanced cabin yet. The highlight is the 39.1-inch Hyperscreen, stretching from one A-pillar to the other, seamlessly merging driver and passenger displays. This next-generation screen incorporates over 1,000 dimmable LEDs to create segmented zones and enhance viewing comfort.
Other premium touches include:
-
Dual wireless charging pads for smartphones
-
Physical shortcut controls for essential functions
-
Cupholders and storage solutions for convenience
-
An optional panoramic sunroof with electronically adjustable opacity
-
A vegan-certified interior, using sustainable and animal-free materials
The cabin design reflects both luxury and a forward-looking focus on sustainability.

Mercedes-Benz plans to roll out the GLC400 4MATIC in late 2026, with the GLC300+ following in early 2027. Pricing details will be announced closer to launch, but the SUV is expected to compete directly with premium rivals such as the BMW iX3, Audi Q6 e-tron, and Tesla Model Y Performance.
