Kia Canada has formally declared the launch of the brand-new Kia EV5, a small electric SUV that will only be available in Canada. As the firm increases its efforts to electrify the area, the EV5 will be one of three new, reasonably priced EVs it introduces in the spring of 2026.
The EV5 is being manufactured in Kia’s Gwangju Autoland facility in South Korea with the goal of increasing access to electric transportation without sacrificing innovation, performance, or design.
Built under Kia’s design philosophy ‘Opposites United’, the EV5 takes visual inspiration from nature and human interaction, showcasing a commanding silhouette. Key exterior features include:
- Signature EV ‘Tiger Face’ grille
- 3D star map lighting pattern
- Sculpted aerodynamic lines
- Choice of 18″, 19″, or 20″ alloy wheels
- Eight color options, including two new shades: Magma Red and Frost Blue
Inside, the EV5 blends sporty sophistication with eco-conscious innovation, featuring:
- A nearly 30-inch panoramic display
- Five-passenger seating with ample legroom and shoulder space
- Mood-adjustable ambient lighting
- Flat-folding second-row seats
- Generous cargo capacity with an added front trunk (frunk)
- Interior materials sourced from 10 sustainable components
EV5 buyers will have flexibility in both powertrains and range:
- 60.3 kWh standard range battery
- 81.4 kWh long-range option
- Available in FWD and AWD, optimized for Canadian weather
- Equipped with North American Charging Standard (NACS) port for broader access to DC fast charging stations
The EV5 joins Canada’s largest car market, offering a sleek and useful mid-size EV SUV substitute. Building on the success of the Kia EV6 and EV9, Kia Canada hopes to increase EV adoption by reducing the barrier to entry for customers looking for reasonably priced electric solutions.
