In a significant move to promote sustainable urban mobility, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has partnered with Reliance BP Mobility Ltd. to establish a robust electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the city. The initiative, aimed at supporting Nagpur’s transition to clean energy and reducing vehicular pollution, has already seen the successful launch of three EV charging stations, with eight more set to go live by December 2025.

The operational charging stations are strategically located at Wadi Naka, Yashwant Stadium, and Rahate Colony, offering convenient access for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. The remaining eight stations are expected to become functional by the end of the year, pending completion of infrastructure and power connections facilitated by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), which is providing the required transformers.

NMC has allotted land for these stations, generating an estimated ₹1.3 lakh per month in non-tax revenue, while also providing residents with reliable EV charging facilities. The rollout is part of a larger effort by the city administration to accelerate EV adoption and make sustainable transportation more accessible to the public.

Speaking about the initiative, a senior NMC official stated, “By expanding our EV charging infrastructure in collaboration with Reliance BP, we aim to make Nagpur a model city for electric mobility in India. These stations will not only support existing EV owners but also encourage more citizens to switch to eco-friendly vehicles.”

Reliance BP Mobility, a leader in EV energy solutions, brings its expertise in fast-charging technology and service reliability, ensuring that Nagpur’s new stations meet international standards for safety and performance.

Once all 11 charging stations are operational, residents of Nagpur will have access to a well-distributed, efficient, and user-friendly EV network, complementing the city’s broader goals of reducing emissions and enhancing urban mobility.

This partnership highlights the growing momentum of India’s EV ecosystem, reflecting a collaborative effort between municipal authorities and private players to make electric transportation mainstream.
