In a landmark move to accelerate sustainable transport in the Middle East, JBM Electric Vehicles (P) Ltd, part of JBM Auto Ltd, and Al Habtoor Motors, one of the UAE’s leading automobile distributors, have announced a strategic partnership to bring next-generation electric buses to the UAE market.

The agreement, formalised during a signing ceremony attended by senior leadership from both companies, designates Al Habtoor Motors as the exclusive importer and distributor of JBM’s electric buses in the UAE. The collaboration will support nationwide deployment, aftersales service, and infrastructure, aiming to contribute to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative by delivering advanced electric mobility solutions that reduce emissions, lower operating costs, and modernise public transport.

JBM Electric Vehicles is a global leader in zero-emission electric buses, with one of the world’s largest integrated manufacturing facilities in India, capable of producing 20,000 buses annually. The company’s buses have collectively clocked over 200 million kilometres, served more than a billion passengers, saved over 350 million litres of diesel, and reduced CO₂ emissions by over a billion kilograms. JBM has set a goal for its e-buses to achieve 3 billion kilometres globally within the next three years.

Speaking on the partnership, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & MD, JBM Auto, said,

“The UAE is a strategic market for JBM Electric Vehicles, and we aim to bring our expertise from source to wheel. Al Habtoor Motors shares our vision for sustainable transport, and together, we expect to reduce CO₂ emissions by over 2.8 billion kilograms, save more than 1 billion litres of diesel, and impact over 1.6 billion passengers over the next decade.”

Al Habtoor Motors will introduce JBM e-buses across multiple segments, including urban city, staff, school, tarmac, and intercity-tourist coach applications. Equipped with advanced lithium-ion battery systems, comprehensive safety features, and smart charging capabilities, these buses meet UAE national EV standards and are designed to perform under the region’s harsh climatic conditions. The partnership also includes a turnkey solution combining buses, charging infrastructure, and leasing services, supported by robust aftersales assistance.

Ahmed Al Habtoor, CEO, Al Habtoor Motors, emphasised:

“This partnership is a milestone in our journey toward green mobility. With JBM’s proven EV technology and our local expertise, we aim to be among the top two e-mobility players transforming clean public transport in the UAE, supporting the nation’s climate and sustainability goals.”

This collaboration marks a significant step toward providing clean, efficient, and future-ready public transport solutions, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to global net zero targets and advancing the UAE’s vision for sustainable mobility.
