A voluntary recall has been announced by Hyundai Motor India for 1,744 Ioniq EVs that were produced between July 21, 2022, and April 30, 2024.
The recall has been announced by the corporation with a justification of “potential issue in the integrated charging control unit (ICCU), which may discharge the 12V battery.”
The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which debuted in the Indian market on January 11, 2023, at the Auto Expo 2023, is the subject of its first-ever recall. SIAM wholesales statistics show that 1,400 Hyundai Ioniq 5 units were sold in FY2024.
Hyundai Motor India sold 1,400 Ioniq 5 EVs in FY2024. Total wholesale sales from April to May 2024 are 87 units.
The Kona Electric and the Ioniq 5 are the two EVs that Hyundai Motor India sells in India. Three recalls of the Kona have occurred, totaling 1,442 units: on December 3, 2020 (456 units), December 8, 2020 (456 units), and March 10, 2021 (530 units). The second recall involved inspecting the Integrated Electronic Brake system, whereas the first and third recalls focused on the high-voltage battery system.
Since the rollout of SIAM’s Code of Voluntary Recall in July 2012, Hyundai Motor India has recalled a total of 45,839 cars and SUVs including the latest one for the Ioniq 5.
