Formulating a steady ecosystem for the growth of EV adoption in India, the Union government has revealed its intentions to issue new EV standards for electric vehicle (EV) batteries within a month.
The road transport ministry has already sent the draft of the EV standards to industry stakeholders for consultations, one of the two officials cited on the condition of anonymity.
The trend of electric vehicle or EV standards came into limelight when a few e-wheelers caught fire on road due to faulty designs of its makers.
The draft is based on the recommendations of a committee set up by the ministry to examine EV batteries following multiple cases of such vehicles catching fires.
