      India’s electric vehicle ecosystem is expanding rapidly, but building a reliable charging infrastructure across such a vast and diverse country comes with unique challenges.       What are the biggest technical or market challenges Exicom faces in manufacturing and supplying EV chargers across India – regulatory compliances, or varying customer needs?

      Exicom operates in a uniquely diverse and complex Indian market, where meeting technical compliance and cost efficiency requirements is just one part of the challenge. Our teams build chargers that navigate extreme climatic variations, ranging from the intense heat of Rajasthan to the high humidity of the Northeast; while adapting to evolving policies from DISCOMs and various government bodies.

      Adding to this complexity, the contrasting demand patterns between dense urban centers and long highway corridors make deployment strategies even more challenging to navigate. Additionally, our customers, including charge point operators and automotive partners, expect exceptional system reliability and uptime, coupled with the lowest total cost of ownership. Addressing these expectations and challenges requires a resilient and agile supply chain supported by relentless R&D efforts focused on efficient, adaptable product designs to serve this highly fragmented and evolving market landscape effectively.

      From your perspective, what role can consumers play in optimizing charging habits to ensure efficient energy use and long-term EV battery health?

      Consumers play a crucial role in optimizing charging habits to ensure efficient energy use and maintain long-term EV battery health. By adopting smart charging practices such as scheduling charging during off-peak hours, avoiding frequent top-ups to 100%, and utilizing smart chargers equipped with load balancing; users can significantly extend battery lifespan.

      These habits not only lower overall charging costs but also promote more sustainable EV adoption.

      What certifications and standards are mandatory in India for EV charger manufacturing and installation, and how does Exicom ensure its products exceed these for enhanced safety and reliability?

      All EV chargers sold in India must receive approval from government-recognized agencies such as ARAI and ICAT, and the charging infrastructure must be installed according to Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and local DISCOM regulations. Most statutory testing and certification requirements are based on global standards for EV charging equipment and infrastructure. By continuously investing in research and development, Exicom has incorporated multiple redundant safety layers, proactive remote monitoring through its RMS platform, and secured global certifications including OCPP 1.6/2.0.1 and ISO 15118 readiness, ensuring our products deliver reliability and safety that go beyond mandated compliance.

      While Exicom supplies chargers mostly to CPOs, based on industry insights, what factors influence the business viability of public DC and AC chargers in India?

      The business viability of public DC and AC chargers in India is primarily influenced by location economics, utilization rates, tariff structures, and EV density. AC chargers are best suited for residential, commercial, and workplace environments where vehicles can be charged over longer periods. Conversely, DC fast chargers are more viable in fleet hubs, along highways, and in busy city centers with high footfall. For charge point operators, factors such as system uptime, land lease costs, and reliable power availability are critical and often determine whether public charging investments are commercially viable.. Optimizing these factors is essential for scaling a financially viable public charging network that supports India’s growing EV ecosystem.

      Which states or regions have shown the highest demand and technical readiness for charging infrastructure from a manufacturing and supply standpoint? Are there states where supply-side challenges persist?

      The highest demand and technical readiness for EV charging infrastructure from a manufacturing and supply perspective are observed in states like Delhi-NCR, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Telangana, driven by progressive EV policies and strong consumer adoption. These regions benefit from supportive government frameworks and relatively robust grid infrastructure, enabling smoother deployment of charging systems. However, many tier 2 and tier 3 towns continue to face supply-side challenges, including limited grid capacity and inconsistent, round-the-clock power availability, which pose significant barriers to scaling charging infrastructure effectively in these areas.

      How does Exicom envision the evolution of electricity tariffs and payment/pricing models for public charging, and are your chargers designed to support emerging tariff innovations like dynamic or subscription models?

      Electricity tariffs are expected to evolve toward more dynamic pricing, including time-of-day pricing and subscription bundles. Exicom’s chargers are designed with advanced smart metering, OCPP-compliance, and flexible payment APIs, enabling support for diverse pricing models such as per kWh, per minute, flat-rate subscriptions, and roaming. This ensures that our charging solutions are future-ready and capable of seamlessly adapting to emerging tariff innovations, supporting the evolving needs of the public charging ecosystem.

      For individual EV owners, what features and certifications should they prioritize when selecting a home charger to ensure safety, device compatibility, and future-proof connectivity?

      EV owners in India should prioritize home chargers equipped with smart features such as app-based scheduling, which allows them to take advantage of time-of-day tariff benefits, load balancing to efficiently manage charging in multi-vehicle households, and over-the-air firmware updates to keep their devices up-to-date. Additionally, selecting chargers certified by agencies like ARAI and/or internationally recognized certifications such as CE or UL ensures safety, device compatibility, and future-proof connectivity, providing peace of mind and long-term reliability for home charging needs.

      How does Exicom’s product design differ to meet the distinct technical requirements of highway fast chargers versus fleet depot chargers or residential AC chargers?

      At Exicom, our solution-based design philosophy ensures that we meet the unique technical requirements of different EV use cases through tailored product offerings. These innovations will enable Exicom to provide reliable, intelligent, and future-ready charging solutions that support the evolving demands of India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem.

      What steps does Exicom take to align its charger manufacturing and power solutions with sustainability goals, including renewable energy integration, lifecycle management, and environmental impact reduction?

      Exicom embeds sustainability at the core of its manufacturing and power solution operations. Our upcoming facility in Hyderabad is being developed in alignment with Green Building Standards, setting a benchmark for responsible infrastructure development. Across our product range, we prioritize energy-efficient designs that minimize power losses while maximizing performance. Additionally, we are actively establishing partnerships for component recycling and reuse, which helps reduce lifecycle carbon emissions and supports India’s transition toward a circular economy.
