EVgo Inc. stated that more than 50 EV models are now qualified for its revolutionary Autocharge+ function, marking a major step towards revolutionising the electric vehicle (EV) charging environment. In the company’s mission to provide EV drivers across the country with smooth and hassle-free charging experiences, this innovation represents a significant turning point.

Within the EVgo network, Autocharge+ has quickly gained traction since its September 2022 introduction. The fact that Autocharge+ almost increased the number of charging sessions started in 2023—making up around 17% of all charging sessions started in the fourth quarter alone—is evidence of its effectiveness.

With Autocharge+, drivers can now quickly start an EV charging session without opening an app, swiping a credit card, or tapping an EVgo programme card. This represents a paradigm shift in the EV charging environment. For EV owners, this easy procedure not only improves convenience but also simplifies the charging process.

Autocharge+ is a widely available function for most EVs that have CCS connectors installed. Additionally, Tesla models that are compatible with the CCS Combo 1 Adapter can take advantage of this cutting-edge feature. When fully deployed across the network, EVgo hopes to increase Autocharge+ accessibility by providing support via its integrated NACS connectors.

“The key to achieving widespread EV adoption in the U.S. is giving EV drivers a convenient, streamlined charging experience, and Autocharge+ does just that. Through our collaboration with automakers and ongoing interoperability testing with new and existing EV models, EVgo continues to enhance the customer experience across the network for everyone – no matter which EV model they choose to drive,” emphasized Stacey Stewart, Senior Vice President of Charging at EVgo.

EVgo’s relentless commitment to innovation underscores its position as one of the nation’s largest public fast-charging networks for electric vehicles. With Autocharge+ set to redefine the EV charging landscape, the company is poised to further accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility solutions.
