On August 21, 2025, India’s electric vehicle (EV) and auto component stocks were mixed, as selective buying interest was mingled with sharp corrections in some counters.

On the upside, Exide Industries was a strong gainer, with a rise of 1.05% at ₹400.45 level with good investors’ sentiment on rising levels of demand for advanced battery solutions. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility also rose, though by a lesser 0.22% at ₹990.3. Greaves Cotton gained 0.91% from a good showing at ₹215.77 resignations singularly in the EV focused businesses.

In terms of auto component heavyweights, Bharat Electronics and Exicom Tele-Systems were also up 0.64% and 0.76%, respectively, showing sustained optimism for companies aligned with India’s cleaner energy transition. HBL Engineering and Olectra Greentech also finished in positive territory.

In a downturn, Ola Electric Mobility Ltd. saw the greatest drop of the day, 8.27%, at ₹48.81. Stock sentiment was impacted by concerns from some investors about the company’s valuations and that near-term delivery could challenge its fortunes. Among larger auto companies, Hero MotoCorp fell by 0.76% at ₹5,097.10, while Tata Motors fell 0.61%, at ₹685.4.

Other laggards were Sona Comstar (-1.71%), Minda Corporation (-1.56%), and JBM Auto (-1.49%), which likely saw profit-booking after their recent increases. Even market heavyweight Bosch -1.16%, at ₹39,475.00, closed lower.

Ultimately, the overall movement suggested a sector undergoing a range of transitional quakes—where, in contrast to very turbulent market conditions persist for other high-growth stocks, there are some persistent signs of a recovery in EV adoption, government policy, and supply chain expansions that will rebound some selected counters, Analysts are also advising investors to keep an eye on battery makers and component suppliers moving forward, as they remain central to India’s transition into EVs.
