On September 25, 2025, Indian electric vehicle (EV) and automobile stocks had a mixed day as investors remained cautious amid persistent global supply chain issues and instability in domestic markets.

Tata Motors was the biggest loser of the day, as its stock price fell 2.74% to ₹664.30, due to general concerns over changing demand and increasing input costs. Amara Raja Energy & Mobility declined 2.11% to ₹981.55. JBM Auto, manufacturer of EV components, also declined 2.08% to ₹712.75.

Olectra Greentech, a key player in the electric bus market, was down 2.02% to ₹1,611.80, while battery producer Exide Industries was down 1.62% to ₹393.15. Ola Electric Mobility also registered weakness, closing 1.50% lower at ₹56.04. Other auto component majors like Sona Comstar and Uno Minda slipped 1.72% and 0.25%, respectively.

Among the winners, Bharat Electronics rose 1.95% to ₹403.15, supported by good order inflows in the defense and electric vehicles electronics space. Hero MotoCorp was up 1.47% at ₹5,354.50, following hopes of the recovery of festive demand and continuing investment into electric vehicles.

Market analysts noted that while there are still immediate hurdles in the backdrop of global uncertainty, the EV and automotive industry in India is well-placed for robust long-term growth. Shifts to clean mobility, government support, and increased consumer uptake are expected to provide structural support to the sector, despite short-term noise.

Various companies including Tata Motors, Ola Electric, and Olectra Greentech are leading the move towards mass EV adoption, and analysts believe the current volatility may provide a buying opportunity for longer-term focused investors with a focus on the green mobility trend in particular.
