Pune-based e-cycle startup eMotorad has unveiled the G1 Cargo E-Cycle, a rugged, high-capacity electric cycle targeted at revolutionising last-mile deliveries. With a price tag of ₹49,999 and a five-year frame warranty, the G1 Cargo is designed to help logistics operators cut costs and emissions simultaneously. The cycle features dual 48V 10.2 Ah removable batteries offering a 100 km pedal-assist range, a payload capacity of 150 kg, and a 250W rear hub motor built for robust urban performance.

Performance Advantages Over Traditional Delivery Two-Wheelers

The G1 Cargo stands apart from petrol-powered two-wheelers by delivering significantly lower operational and maintenance costs—a crucial advantage for delivery companies operating on tight margins. Emission-free operations also align the cycle closely with India’s growing emphasis on clean urban mobility.

Competitive Landscape: How G1 Cargo Stacks Up

eMotorad enters a growing market of electric cargo bikes in India. Notable competitors include:

      • Hero Lectro Cargo E-Bikes: Offer versatility for groceries and deliveries with a low cost of ownership, pedal assist and throttle options, and up to 75 km battery-powered range.

      • Hero Lectro (parent brand): A leading e-bike manufacturer in India, offering a wide range of models.

      • Other key players in the Indian cargo e-bike market include Quantum Energy, Aurita Bikes, Evolet India, and Vikebike India, signalling rapid expansion and competitive innovation.

Globally, top suppliers like Rad Power Bikes, Urban Arrow, Tern Bicycles, and Riese & Müller are advancing scalable, modular cargo bike platforms with robust customer support and accessory ecosystems.

      Strategic Edge and Market Context

India’s electric cargo bike segment is on an upward trajectory, spurred by surging e-commerce demand, sustainability goals, and supportive policies. The G1 Cargo’s appeal lies in combining rugged design, high load capacity, cost-efficiency, and Indian pricing—positioning it as a practical and scalable solution for urban delivery operations.
