For the first time, Egypt’s governmental and commercial sectors have partnered to form a firm whose sole purpose is to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the nation. Hassan Allam Utilities, Infinity, Misr Petroleum, and Gastec inked a shareholder agreement in front of H.E. Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Through this partnership, EV chargers will be installed and run at strategic, busy places throughout Egypt using the vast networks of filling stations owned by Misr Petroleum and Gastec.

This program is a component of the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ plan to diversify energy sources and encourage sustainable transportation. Under the direction of H.E. Eng. Karim Badawi, the ministry has been aggressively promoting cleaner energy options, such as natural gas and electric vehicles.

Mohannad Kamal, Chief Commercial Officer of Hassan Allam Utilities, and Shams Abdel Ghaffar, Managing Director of Infinity EV, along with Mohamed Maged, Chairman of Misr Petroleum, and Abdel Fattah Farahat, Chairman of Gastec, inked the deal during the EGYPES conference.

This collaboration is a significant step towards enhancing EV charging infrastructure and promoting sustainable mobility in Egypt, stressed Nayar Fouad, co-founder and CEO of Infinity. With the help of the Ministry of Petroleum, he said, he is confident that this partnership would promote EV adoption and establish Egypt as a pioneer in electric mobility in the region.

By increasing the accessibility of charging stations and fostering the shift to greener modes of transportation, this partnership is anticipated to be crucial in advancing EV adoption in Egypt.
