This important decision was made by Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh at the board meeting of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on Friday. The DTC Chairman, the Transport Commissioner, and other board members were present during the meeting.
To Run 100 Type-3 Electronic Buses
The board told the Transport Minister during the meeting that DTC will be used to operate 100 new Type-3 electric interstate buses. These buses will travel 17 routes around the adjacent states, stopping at a number of places of worship. According to the Transport Minister, this project aligns with the “Green Delhi, Clean Delhi” and “Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra” initiatives of the Delhi government.
It is crucial to remember that the current drivers will operate these DTC buses. This will enable the current workforce to be fully utilised. Additionally, these interstate electric buses will help maintain a clean environment in nearby states.
In order to improve DTC’s overall revenue, the board members also gave the minister a strategy during the meeting to raise non-fare money through marketing. According to officials, this project can bring in about ₹5 crore a year for DTC through advertising. This concept calls for placing ads at bus depots, bus terminals, and bus stops in addition to inside and outside the vehicles.
