Following its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2022, the Chhattisgarh Transport Department has been encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles by providing 10% subsidy to the vehicle price which is directly transferred to the costumer’s bank account.

Subsidy An official communication said that the subsidy is available for all two-wheeler, three-wheeler, four-wheelers (non-commercial), four-wheeler (commercial), goods carrier passenger vehicles, and other categories of battery-powered electric vehicles (EV) in order to promote electric vehicles in the state under Policy 2022.

The new EV policy aims towards ensuring a healthy environment for the residents of Chhattisgarh and to avoid rapidly increasing harmful gas emissions from vehicles and other sources that result in decreasing the air quality index, and rapid adoption of battery electric cars.

The electric vehicles accounting for 15% of all new vehicle registrations by 2027 will result in significantly enhancing Chhattisgarh’s environment by lowering emissions of polluting gases from the transports, the communication said.

“As per the new EV policy incentives for purchasing the state has exempted 10 percent of the value (excluding taxes) of electric vehicles or up to 1.5 lakhs (whichever is less) in the purchase incentive amount and registration cost on the purchase of electric vehicles”, the communication added.
