BMW has officially launched the all-new sixth-generation 5 Series Touring, with the first units recently delivered to customers in Europe and Japan. This release includes the debut of the all-electric BMW i5 Touring, marking a significant milestone in the Bavarian automaker’s electrification strategy.

The new lineup features two all-electric models and two highly efficient four-cylinder diesel variants. By summer 2024, BMW will expand the range to include plug-in hybrid models and an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, further enhancing the versatility of the 5 Series Touring and Sedan.

Leading the charge is the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring, boasting up to 601 hp and a range of 441 to 503 kilometers (274 to 313 miles) according to the WLTP cycle. Its sibling, the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring, offers up to 340 hp and a range of 483 to 560 kilometres (300 to 348 miles).

For diesel enthusiasts, the BMW 520d Touring and 520d xDrive Touring models are now available, featuring a four-cylinder diesel engine with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, producing 197 hp.

In summer 2024, BMW will introduce two plug-in hybrid variants: the BMW 530e Touring and 530e xDrive Touring, as well as the BMW 530e xDrive Sedan. These models combine a four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a system output of 299 hp and an electric range of up to 95 kilometres (59 miles).

The new 5 Series Touring maintains its practicality with a flat luggage compartment that offers 570 litres of space, expandable to 1,700 litres, even in plug-in hybrid versions. Additionally, the lineup will soon feature the BMW 540d xDrive Sedan and Touring models, powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine with mild hybrid technology, generating 303 hp and 670 Nm of torque.

The pricing for the new BMW 5 Series Touring and the first BMW i5 Touring in Germany is as follows:

      BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring: 101,500 euros

      BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring: 72,200 euros

      BMW 530e Touring: 66,850 euros

BMW 530e xDrive Touring: 69,450 euros

BMW 540d xDrive Touring: 71,050 euros

      BMW 520d Touring: 61,750 euros

BMW 520d xDrive Touring: 64,350 euros

BMW 530e xDrive Sedan: 67,450 euros

BMW 540d xDrive Sedan: 69,050 euros

BMW’s continued innovation in electric and hybrid technology, combined with its traditional diesel options, ensures the new 5 Series Touring meets the diverse needs of its customers while pushing the boundaries of performance and efficiency.
