Donning the hat of top Automotive French supplier, Valeo has bagged a major contract with BMW to equip its upcoming electric vehicle (EV) platform with its advanced driving assistance system.
The EV platform, on which BMW is planning to build its bestselling 3-Series sedan among other models, is a core part of the automaker’s strategy to reach a 50 percent share of EVs in its global sales by 2030.
Valeo said it would provide the ADAS domain controller, sensors and software for parking and maneuvering for BMW EV platform generation called “Neue Klasse,” due to launch in 2025.
Valeo added that the system being developed by Valeo, BMW and Qualcomm will be able to obtain real-time mapping and understanding of the car’s surroundings as well as the interior of the vehicle.
Valeo ranks No. 11 on the Automotive News Europe list of the top 100 global suppliers, with worldwide sales to automakers of $16.73 billion in 2021.
