Blue Energy Motors (BEM), India’s pioneering green truck manufacturer, has officially launched the country’s first electric heavy-duty truck featuring battery swapping technology, redefining India’s path toward clean and efficient freight transportation. The groundbreaking vehicle was unveiled by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, at BEM’s state-of-the-art 10,000-capacity manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune.
The occasion also marked the inauguration of India’s first electric corridor between Mumbai and Pune, a transformative initiative aimed at electrifying major national highway corridors over the next three years. This strategic move underscores Maharashtra’s and India’s collective commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions while boosting industrial innovation in the commercial vehicle sector.
Driving India’s Electric Freight Future
With rising demand for sustainable transport, Blue Energy Motors recently signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to establish a new manufacturing facility with an annual capacity of 30,000 trucks and an investment of ₹3,500 crore. The company has already secured MoUs for over 10,000 electric trucks, reflecting strong market confidence and growing interest from logistics and infrastructure companies.
The newly launched electric heavy-duty truck is engineered for Indian road conditions and promises the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in the segment, thanks to advanced battery swapping technology that enables unlimited driving range and minimal downtime.
Leaders Applaud the Milestone
Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lauded the initiative, stating,
“This launch highlights Maharashtra’s leadership in sustainable innovation. Blue Energy Motors’ Made-in-India electric truck with battery swapping technology, along with the Mumbai–Pune electric corridor, aligns perfectly with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and green future vision. I commend their efforts in advancing environmental sustainability and industrial progress.”
Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder and managing director of Blue Energy Motors, emphasized the company’s vision, saying,
“We are witnessing the beginning of India’s EV revolution in the heavy-duty truck segment. Our trucks offer unlimited range via battery swapping, highest payload capacity, and Advanced Mobility Intelligence for fleet reliability. Through our Energy-as-a-Service model, we aim to transform fleet economics with lower capital costs, reduced downtime, and true well-to-wheel sustainability powered by renewable energy.”
Anshuman Ruia, Director at Essar, added,
“This launch is a defining moment in India’s decarbonization journey. It underscores our commitment to green mobility, clean energy, and sustainable logistics infrastructure — paving the way for a low-carbon, efficient, and resilient economy.”
