Anand Group has displayed a range of innovative products, targeted at the fast-growing EV industry, at the ACMA Automechanika 2024 / Bharat Mobility Show at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.

The company has displayed EV components such as electric motors and e-drivetrains under its joint venture, Anand Mando Electric Mobility (AMEM).

The e-drivetrain components like its mid-drive motor with integrated motor controller unit, and mid-drive motor with alternate magnet materials, have been developed in partnership with its Korean partner Mando Corporation, and target the electric two- and three-wheeler segments in India.

Under its Anevolve Headspring JV with Japan’s Headspring, the company showcased its indigenously-developed range of on- and off-board chargers for EVs. While the portable charging modules from 350W to 750W cater to the electric two-, and three-wheeler categories, the range of 7kW, 11kW, and 22kW AC chargers are meant for passenger vehicles.

The company is currently testing these chargers and aims to commence supplies to potential customers within a few months. In July 2023, Anand Group opened its new technology centre – Anevolve Headspring Engineering Centre – under the Anevolve Headspring JV, in Gurugram.

To enable its OEM customers transition towards sustainability, the company also showcased its portfolio of lightweight functional and structural parts, including two-wheeler swing arms, as well as lower control arms for passenger vehicles. These components, that are relevant for both ICE and EVs leverage alternative materials such as composites and carbon fiber to deliver weight reduction benefits.

While these lightweight components made up of innovative materials are more expensive than their traditionally-made counterparts, the company says that these components offer cost benefits on a total-cost-of-ownership basis. With their relatively less complicated designs, the parts made of composite materials require simpler tooling as well as also see reduction in processes such as painting or heat treatment. With lighter weight, the components also offer range benefits for EVs, which could extract more driving range from a given battery pack capacity itself.
