Zypp Electric, India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) rental platform, has announced a strategic partnership with the UK-based Shell Foundation to enhance EV access, promote sustainable livelihoods, and accelerate women’s participation in last-mile delivery across India. The collaboration aims to expand Zypp’s EV rental solutions in Tier-2 markets, democratise EV adoption, and build a more inclusive and sustainable mobility ecosystem.

Key Focus Areas of the Partnership

The partnership will focus on three core initiatives:

      1. Expansion into Tier-2 Cities: Zypp Electric plans to scale its operations beyond metropolitan hubs to underserved Tier-2 cities, bringing EV rental solutions to a broader audience and enabling clean last-mile deliveries.

      2. Women-Centric Delivery Programs: The collaboration seeks to empower women entrepreneurs in the gig economy by creating tailored delivery programs, encouraging female participation in EV operations, and supporting financial independence.

      3. EV Training Academy Growth: Zypp will scale its EV Training Academy, offering comprehensive training for riders, especially women, to operate and maintain EV fleets safely and efficiently, thereby building the EV workforce of the future.

Driving Sustainable Livelihoods and Green Logistics

Jonathan Berman, CEO of Shell Foundation, said:

“Shell Foundation looks for businesses that meaningfully improve livelihoods while reducing emissions. We are proud to partner with Zypp Electric, which is providing opportunities for women and youth in the transport sector, expanding into underserved communities, and contributing significantly to India’s green economy.”

Akash Gupta, co-founder & CEO of Zypp Electric, added:

“Our mission goes beyond building India’s largest EV fleet; it’s about creating an equitable and sustainable mobility ecosystem. With Shell Foundation’s support, we aim to expand into new markets, empower women entrepreneurs, and scale our EV Training Academy to train the workforce of the future.”

      Achievements and Future Vision

Zypp Electric has already reached significant milestones:

      • 50 million green deliveries completed

      • Deployment of over 20,000 EVs across multiple Indian cities

      • Offsetting more than 30,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions

With an ambitious vision to deploy 1 million EVs by 2030, Zypp Electric is positioning itself as a leader in India’s clean logistics transition. The partnership with Shell Foundation marks a critical step in scaling operations, fostering inclusive growth, and ensuring that the benefits of India’s green mobility revolution reach every corner of the country.
