At the UITP Global Public Transport Summit 2025 in Hamburg, Yutong Bus, a world leader in the production of commercial vehicles, made a big impression by displaying its state-of-the-art electric bus lineup with the motto “Think Eco, Move Green.” In order to improve environmentally friendly public transport in Europe, the business unveiled two flagship models: the U12 luxury city bus and the brand-new IC12E battery electric intercity bus.
IC12E: A Long-Range Game Changer for Intercity Transit
At the summit, the Yutong IC12E, which was created especially for the European market, was the main attraction. The IC12E is designed to satisfy the rigorous demands of intercity travel and has a high passenger capacity, a robust electric drivetrain, and an extended range.
The IC12E started a demanding four-country test tour that included Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway right after the summit. Over 1,272 kilometres of varied terrain, including highways, bridges, coasts, and urban settings, the bus was put to the test.
Test Results Underscore Efficiency and Power
- Energy Efficiency: Showed industry-leading energy performance with an ultra-low 0.7 kWh/km (unloaded) average.
- Long-Range Capability: Dropped from 99% to 31% SOC (state of charge) after a 510-kilometre journey from Germany to Denmark, leaving 170 km of range.
- Fast Charging: Recharged from 13% to 99% in 1 hour 40 minutes using a single charging gun.
- Power Performance: Maintained a 20% gradeability in Norway’s hilly regions, demonstrating its resilience in harsh road conditions.
U12: Urban Electric Transit, Refined
Yutong demonstrated the U12 premium city bus, intended for major urban routes, in addition to the IC12E. The 12-metre-long U12, which can carry up to 95 passengers, has an award-winning design (Busworld Design Label) and is built for comfort, safety, and longevity. A high-strength closed-ring body structure and the YESS battery safety system are important elements that provide a clever fusion of technology, dependability, and fleet management intelligence.
