Yulu, India’s largest shared electric vehicle (EV) mobility technology company, has introduced an innovative service in Hyderabad, Telangana. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan (IAS), Special Chief Secretary, Information Technology and Industries & Commerce, Government of Telangana, honoured the inaugural ceremony, which included an intense EV rally by delivery partners from Swiggy, Blinkit, Zepto, and other businesses.

This launch is a big step forward in Yulu’s ambition to improve urban mobility in India by providing clean and shared transit options. Yulu will initially deploy its purpose-built DeX EVs in the Cyberabad Commissionerate region, which is a centre of information and technology. Yulu’s expansion into Hyderabad is anticipated to build on its success in other cities such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, where it has driven over 110 million green deliveries.

Strategic Expansion in the City of Pearls

Hyderabad’s growing economy, technology-savvy residents, and excellent infrastructure make it an ideal market for Yulu’s app-based hyperlocal delivery solutions. The city’s thriving quick-commerce and food delivery industries, bolstered by rising consumption and new-age industries, provide fertile ground for Yulu’s expansion.

The State Government’s upcoming Hyderabad Master Plan, which aims to enhance intra-city mobility infrastructure and sustainable urban development, aligns perfectly with Yulu’s goals. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan (IAS) expressed the government’s support, stating, “The Government of Telangana is dedicated to advancing the electric vehicle sector. Hyderabad, with its young and tech-savvy population, serves as an ideal environment for the adoption of innovative technologies and business models in the electric mobility space. We are pleased to welcome pioneering mobility-as-a-service companies like Yulu to the city’s shared mobility landscape.”

Empowering Delivery Workers and Promoting Sustainability

Amit Gupta, Co-Founder and CEO of Yulu, emphasized the company’s commitment to Hyderabad, saying, “As Hyderabad emerges as a beacon of sustainable urban development, Yulu will champion affordable and zero-emission solutions for last-mile mobility that improve residents’ quality of life and empower delivery workers, brands, and consumers. By unlocking EVs for last-mile delivery and creating several new gig work jobs in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, Yulu looks forward to partnering with the State to create a vibrant and inclusive economy.”

For delivery riders, Yulu offers simplified and smart technology, a compact and traffic-friendly form factor, and affordable rental packs. Additional benefits include zero maintenance, minimal downtime, and assured battery availability with one-minute swaps at Yuma Energy’s battery swap stations. This inclusive service eliminates entry barriers for aspiring gig workers, including women, who may lack a driver’s license or vehicle, or face high vehicle down-payments and fuel costs.

      A Catalyst for Positive Change

Yulu’s service will also support state and city administrators in creating jobs and promoting sustainable urbanization. By leading the way towards a greener and more prosperous future, Yulu is set to become a catalyst for positive change in Hyderabad and beyond.

As Yulu expands its footprint in Hyderabad, the city’s residents can look forward to a cleaner, more efficient, and accessible urban mobility solution that aligns with the global push towards sustainability and innovation.
