      WEVO Launches 2K Silicone Potting Compounds for EV Power Electronics

      WEVO-CHEMIE GmbH has introduced its WEVOSIL 2210x FL range of two-component (2K) RTV silicone potting compounds designed specifically for power electronics in electric vehicles. The company says the materials address growing thermal, mechanical and electrical demands in increasingly compact EV architectures.

      As electrification accelerates, components such as inverters, DC/DC converters and inductive elements are becoming more tightly integrated while handling higher power densities. This trend increases the need for effective thermal management, reliable insulation and mechanical stress reduction.

      According to WEVO, the WEVOSIL 2210x FL series provides tailored thermal conductivities, strong temperature resistance and secure encapsulation of sensitive components. The materials are engineered to support long-term stability under continuous high-current operation and elevated temperatures.

      For DC/DC converters, WEVO highlights WEVOSIL 22102 FL, which offers thermal conductivity of 1.0 W/m·K and is designed to improve heat dissipation while maintaining mechanical decoupling. The hydrophobic properties of the silicone are intended to protect transformers, windings and capacitors against moisture-related damage.

      In inverter applications, WEVOSIL 22105 FL combines low viscosity with higher thermal conductivity of 1.5 W/m·K, enabling full wetting of densely packed power modules. The material is rated for continuous operating temperatures of up to 200°C and features a supersoft consistency to reduce stress on solder joints and semiconductor components.

      The company also positions the materials for use in ferrite cores and other inductive components, where vibration damping and crack prevention are critical. With viscosities below 5,000 mPa·s, the silicones can be processed using conventional mixing and dosing systems while minimizing air entrapment.

      WEVO says the product range can be adapted to specific OEM requirements, supporting the development of next-generation EV power electronics as system integration and performance expectations continue to rise.
