Volvo Trucks has introduced a pioneering service aimed at facilitating rapid charging for electric trucks.

Volvo TrucksThe initiative is part of a broader push for a greener future, involving the establishment of approximately 130 charging stations across Sweden in 2023 and 2024.

These stations, operated by various companies, are set to revolutionize the electric truck landscape.

The groundbreaking service, spearheaded by Volvo Trucks, enables haulers to effortlessly locate and access these charging stations. Initially debuting in Sweden, the service is poised to expand to other European markets and global regions shortly.

“This marks a monumental breakthrough in the electrification of heavy transport. Our customers now have seamless access to public fast chargers all over Sweden, making the transition to electric trucks more accessible than ever,” stated Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, emphasizing the service’s transformative impact.

What sets this service apart is its inclusivity – it welcomes all truck brands and provides comprehensive information about charging stations suitable for heavy-duty vehicles, regardless of the operator. Users can conveniently pay for charging through the platform, with the added convenience of booking charging slots soon.

Roger Alm elaborated, “Customers can now easily locate charging stations for heavy electric trucks, ensuring they pay a fair market price with no hidden fees. This streamlined approach, coupled with minimal administrative hassle, will undoubtedly boost the popularity of electric trucks among fleet owners.”

Volvo Trucks is actively collaborating with charge point operators worldwide to expedite the seamless expansion of the charging network and service. Additionally, Volvo Trucks, as part of the Volvo Group, is making substantial strides in charging infrastructure through Milence, a joint venture with Daimler Truck and the Traton Group.

This partnership will oversee the installation and operation of at least 1,700 high-performance green energy charging points along highways and logistics hubs across Europe, welcoming all heavy-duty battery electric vehicles irrespective of their brand.

In the initial phase, Volvo’s charging service will grant access to 29 charging stations operated by OKQ8, all powered by green electricity.

This development signifies a pivotal moment in the evolution of sustainable transportation, heralding a future where electric trucks become the norm rather than the exception.
