Here is an explanation of the upcoming full-size SUVs that VW and MG want to introduce.

Two more large SUVs, one from Volkswagen and one from MG, will join the newly released Skoda Kodiaq. The Toyota Fortuner now dominates this relatively tiny category, and the new models will make competition more fierce. Volkswagen plans to introduce the second-generation Tayron in India by the end of the year.

For many years, the business had no direct rival to the Volkswagen Group’s Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner. The Group’s flagship brand, the second-generation Tayron, will make its market debut in the three-row SUV segment. The VW Tayron is a good example of a global mid-size (D-segment) SUV, measuring 4,792 mm in length, 1,853 mm in width, and 1,666 mm in height. It can be chosen as a five-seater or a seven-seater in international markets, and it has a wheelbase of 2,789 mm.

By folding the back seats, the five-seater’s 885-litre luggage capacity may be increased to 2,090 litres. By folding the third-row seats, the seven-seater’s 345-litre luggage capacity can be increased to 850 litres, and by folding even the second-row seats, it can reach 1,905 litres. We anticipate that India will offer versions with five or seven seats.

With a 2.0-litre TSI evo4 turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 kW (201 hp) and 320 Nm of torque, Volkswagen is probably going to introduce the Tayron. The 4MOTION all-wheel drive technology and the DQ381-7A 7-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox will probably cooperate to deliver power to the wheels. The VW Tayron, which is assembled from knocked-down kits manufactured in Wolfsburg in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, may cost approximately INR 45 lakh (ex-showroom) and up.

By June, JSW MG Motor should introduce the Majestor, its new competitor. It will compete with Toyota’s Fortuner Legender, which Toyota Kirloskar Motor sells separately as the Legender and is essentially a facelifted Gloster. Split headlamps, a wider and more aggressive radiator grille with a cross-bar design, distinctive bumpers, more durable wheel arch cladding, and six double-spoke alloy wheels are some of the ways the Majestor stands out from the competition.
