The Volkswagen brand has reached a major milestone in its electrification journey, delivering its two millionth all-electric vehicle (BEV) to a customer. The milestone vehicle, an ID.3, was handed over to Kirsten Vormbrock at the Transparent Factory in Dresden this week. The car was produced at Volkswagen’s Zwickau plant, a key hub for the brand’s electric mobility production.
Volkswagen began its journey in electromobility in 2013 with the e-up! and has steadily expanded its all-electric portfolio to include models such as the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.7, as well as electric precursors like the e-Golf. Today, Volkswagen ranks among the leading EV manufacturers in Germany, Europe, and globally.
Martin Sander, Volkswagen Board Member for Sales, Marketing, and After Sales, stated:
“We laid the foundations for electromobility early on and are driving our transformation to an all-electric future with clear strategic priority. Our strong market position confirms the competitiveness of our electric portfolio.”
The ID.3, ID.4, and ID.7 form the pillars of Volkswagen’s electric success. With ID. Polo and three other new EV models slated for launch in 2026, Volkswagen aims to make electric mobility more accessible and affordable for everyday customers.
The Transparent Factory in Dresden emphasizes the brand’s focus on customer experience, offering production demonstrations, themed visitor areas, and test drives of all ID models. With Zwickau as a production hub, Volkswagen continues to scale its BEV production and drive adoption across Europe and beyond.
