Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker VinFast has filed a design patent for its Minio Green EV in India, signalling plans to challenge the MG Comet EV in the compact urban electric segment.

The move marks a strategic step for VinFast as it targets the country’s rapidly growing market for affordable city-focused EVs. While official specifications remain under wraps, the Minio Green EV is expected to emphasise efficiency, manoeuvrability, and modern tech features aimed at daily urban commuters.

Industry experts believe the upcoming hatchback could bolster VinFast’s India entry strategy, adding pressure on the MG Comet, which currently leads the small EV category. The patent images reveal a contemporary, minimalistic design consistent with the brand’s global styling cues.

Pricing, performance figures, and the launch timeline have not yet been disclosed, but if positioned competitively, the Minio Green EV could offer Indian buyers a stylish, practical, and eco-friendly alternative in the budget EV segment.
