In Vietnam, VinFast has unveiled a brand-new compact cargo van known as the EC Van (E-City Van). The action demonstrates the company’s increasing focus on domestic market electric mobility solutions for public transport and businesses.
The EC Van has a wheelbase of 2.5 metres and is 3.8 metres long, 1.7 metres wide, and 1.8 metres tall. Its compact size and 5.1-metre turning radius make it the perfect option for both limited rural roads and crowded urban areas.
VinFast fitted two front seats to the EC Van, allowing the windowless rear to hold 2,600 litres of freight. According to the business, the compact electric vehicle has a 600 kg cargo capacity. The electric motor on the back axle of the zero-emissions freight variant generates 30 kW and 110 Nm of torque, allowing the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 75 kph.
Although VinFast has not yet revealed the cell chemistry, all signs suggest LFP, and the EC Van has a modest battery pack with a 17 kWh energy storage capacity. The 17 kWh battery pack can be charged at up to 19.4 kW, and users can charge it in as little as 42 minutes from 10% to 70%.
VinFast equips the EC Van with basic features like ABS, EBD, TCS, and ESS and offers air conditioning as an option. In addition to offering a five-year/130,000-kilometre vehicle guarantee and a seven-year/160,000-kilometre battery warranty as standard, the business has set its pricing at 285 million dong, or roughly 9,900 euros. It will begin taking orders on May 25 and offer a 10 million dong (about 350 euros) discount to those who deposit by May 30. Delivery to customers is anticipated to start in November.
This year, VinFast has introduced six EVs for service applications in its domestic market, including the EC Van. This month’s EB 6 minibus and this small cargo van come after the business debuted a “Green” line of passenger cars in January. The “Minio” compact hatchback, the “Herio” and “Nerio” SUVs—which are basically reused VF 5 and VF e34, respectively—and the “Limo” MPV make up the Green lineup.
