California-based e-bike manufacturer Velotric has entered the growing electric tricycle market with the launch of its first-ever e-trike, the Velotric Triker. The new three-wheeled electric vehicle is designed with seniors and mobility-challenged individuals in mind but also caters to a wider range of riders seeking an eco-friendly, stable, and cargo-capable urban mobility solution.
The Triker was unveiled amid increasing demand for electric tricycles, driven by consumers looking for safer, more comfortable alternatives to traditional bicycles. With its folding aluminium frame, extended range, and robust cargo features, Velotric’s new offering aims to redefine practical electric mobility.
“We created Triker to serve the riders often left behind in the e-bike movement—those who want the freedom and joy of biking without the fear of falling,” said Adam Zhang, CEO and co-founder of Velotric. “It’s a story of dignity, independence, and connection.”
Key Features and Specifications
The Velotric Triker comes with a powerful 750W rear-hub motor (peaking at 1,300W) that delivers 90 Nm of torque, paired with a large 48V, 16.75Ah (804Wh) battery that offers up to 60 miles (97 km) of range with pedal assist and 50 miles (80 km) on throttle. The e-trike’s Smart SensorSwap system allows riders to toggle between Torque and Cadence modes based on their preferred riding style.
Built around a lightweight folding aluminium frame, the Triker features a 14.5-inch step-through height, a 26-inch seat-to-handlebar reach, and a ComfortMax padded seat with backrest for optimal posture. A differential rear axle provides independent rear-wheel rotation, ensuring stability during turns, while a front hydraulic suspension enhances comfort over uneven terrain.
The trike also includes a Shimano 7-speed gearset, 20-inch Kenda puncture-resistant tires, and hydraulic disc brakes with motor cut-off and parking brake for enhanced safety. Payload capacity is rated at 500 lbs (226.7 kg), making it suitable for carrying groceries, gear, or even pets.
Smart, Accessible, and Safe
Designed with accessibility in mind, the Triker features beginner-friendly ride modes, including a Beginner Mode (max 8 mph) and Walk Mode (2 mph). A removable throttle trigger provides manual control when needed.
Additional features include a 3.5-inch LCD colour display, a Velotric app integration, Apple Find My compatibility, IPX6 water resistance, an integrated LED lighting system, and a 100-dB horn for urban safety. The folding frame ensures easy transport and compact storage, even in tight living spaces.
Availability and Pricing
The Velotric Triker is UL-certified and available in colour variants, such as Cherry Crimson, Pearl White, and Royal Blue. It is priced at $2,399 and can be purchased via authorized Velotric retailers across the U.S.
As demand for practical, inclusive, and sustainable urban mobility continues to rise, Velotric’s entry into the e-trike space underscores the company’s commitment to delivering innovative transportation solutions tailored for a broader demographic.
