Suzhou Inovance Automotive Co. Ltd. of China and Uno Minda Limited have formed a strategic joint venture to produce high-voltage electric vehicle components in India. An important milestone in Uno Minda’s growth into the expanding electric car market is the joint venture.

The collaboration will take advantage of Uno Minda’s robust manufacturing footprint in India and Inovance Automotive’s technical know-how in EV powertrain systems. The joint venture will concentrate on creating and producing essential EV parts, such as motors for four-wheeler passenger and commercial vehicles, e-axles, inverters, and combined charging stations.

As per the agreement, Inovance Automotive’s Hong Kong-based investment arm would purchase a 30% share in Uno Minda Auto Innovations Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Uno Minda. In the joint venture business, Uno Minda will continue to hold a 70% controlling interest.

With India as the exclusive location for production and distribution, the joint venture shows both businesses’ dedication to the Indian EV industry. The joint venture will be able to sell goods to original equipment manufacturers and under the Uno Minda and Inovance brands, according to the terms of the deal.

This partnership comes after the two businesses established a technical licence deal in June 2024, signalling a planned move towards more strategic cooperation in India’s developing automotive industry.

In order to serve the expanding domestic electric vehicle industry, the joint venture combines local production skills with international technological competence, marking a significant step in India’s EV component manufacturing scene.
