The ceremony for Uno Minda Limited at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana, marked a significant milestone. Prominent dignitaries, including senior management from Uno Minda, government representatives, and OEM customers, graced the occasion. Phase 1 of the plant’s five-year construction schedule, which will require a capital expenditure of Rs 542 crore, is scheduled to be completed in Q2 of FY26.

To support its current and upcoming expansions, Uno Minda recently obtained the allotment of a strategically important 94.32-acre plot of land in IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana HSIIDC. About twenty-five acres of this area have been set aside for the greenfield alloy wheel facility. Proactive land acquisitions and a greenfield project by Uno Minda show the company’s dedication to keeping ahead of the curve in the quickly changing Indian auto industry.

IMT Kharkhoda is developing into a vibrant industrial hub, with several downstream companies gaining land for their investment and a mega plant from a major passenger vehicle OEM currently under development. The authorities are promoting the area even more by providing expedited clearances under one roof. Uno Minda can source and supply from this location with a variety of suppliers and consumers in the Industrial Township and surrounding areas, giving it logistical advantages.

As OEMs announce significant capacity increases, Uno Minda is proactively aligning its growth trajectory in consideration of potential opportunities. To be prepared to supply the increasing demand from OEMs, Uno Minda has been aggressively acquiring land parcels in all of the main auto centres. Uno Minda purchased 86 acres of land at Pune’s Khed City Industrial Park last year. More recently, the company purchased 37 acres in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and 94.32 acres at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana. Additionally, the company is in the process of purchasing a Gujarati land piece.

The company’s approach has also changed due to these acquisitions; rather than purchasing little plots of land when we expand, we now purchase larger plots of land to fulfil our present and future demands. There are two main benefits to this updated approach: Because First Uno Minda has easily available land, it can respond to growth opportunities more quickly and avoids the delays that come with land purchase. Second, larger plots enable the construction of larger plants and the consolidation of already existing ones, resulting in enhanced economies of scale and operational management.

“Our company has grown steadily during the last 20 years, opening several plants in different places. We are starting a strategic expansion plan to advance to the next phase of our growth. To maximise economic efficiency and operational effectiveness, this plan calls for the construction of massive, technologically sophisticated megafactories and the consolidation of current facilities. As part of this plan, we broke ground on the 4W alloy wheel facility at IMT Kharkhoda and began building massive 4W lights in Pune’s Khed city last year. We continue to have a strong sense of optimism over the industry’s future and are dedicated to helping the “Aatmnirbhar Bharat” project by producing cutting-edge technology in our country.” said, Mr Nirmal K Minda, CMD, Uno Minda Group.
