Ultraviolette Automotive has introduced a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) scheme called Battery Flex for its X-47 electric crossover, allowing customers to purchase the vehicle without the battery and subscribe to it separately.
Developed in partnership with Ecofy and backed by Eversource Capital, the model brings down the initial price of the X-47 to ₹1.49 lakh, with the battery pack available under a subscription plan and a five-year warranty.
“With operating costs as low as ₹2,499 per month, we are redefining affordability in motorcycling,” said Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette.
The scheme separates the vehicle chassis and battery costs, reducing upfront payments. At the end of the subscription period, battery ownership will transfer to the customer, offering flexibility for urban commuters and long-term EV adoption.
“Battery Flex extends our innovation to customers in a way that is both flexible and accessible,” added Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-founder of Ultraviolette.
