Trontek Electronics , Bets On rising demand for EV Batteries and Energy Storage in India

Indian battery company Trontek Electronics is seeing growing demand for electric vehicle batteries, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and EV charging infrastructure as India’s clean mobility and energy storage sectors continue to expand rapidly.

The company is witnessing strong momentum in the electric two-wheeler and e-rickshaw segments, driven by increasing EV battery, fleet electrification and improving charging infrastructure.

Demand from the electric three-wheeler and e-rickshaw segment has grown around 15–20 per cent year-on-year, supported by rising adoption in last-mile mobility and commercial transport applications. The company also expects 30–35 per cent year-on-year growth in demand from the electric two-wheeler segment this year.

The company is increasingly focusing on lithium ferro phosphate (LFP)-based battery systems due to their higher safety, longer lifecycle and lower maintenance requirements. Its LFP battery systems, supported by in-house Battery Management Systems (BMS), are designed to deliver more than 4,000 charging cycles.

To strengthen battery safety, the company has enhanced thermal management systems, proprietary BMS software and pack architecture in line with stricter standards such as AIS-156 Phase 2. The battery packs use aluminium casings and thermal pads to improve heat dissipation and thermal stability.

Localisation remains a key priority as India pushes domestic manufacturing of EV components and battery systems. While battery pack assembly, chargers, system integration and BMS are largely localised, lithium-ion cells and critical raw materials continue to remain import dependent.

The company is also expanding its focus beyond EV batteries into charging infrastructure, battery swapping and stationary energy storage applications. Battery Energy Storage Systems are emerging as a major growth opportunity alongside mobility applications as renewable energy adoption increases and grid infrastructure evolves.

The company is expanding its focus toward lithium-ion based BESS solutions targeting commercial, industrial and infrastructure applications.
