Toyota is set to launch a new all-electric vehicle with a sleek design, aiming to enhance its lineup and attract buyers. Toyota just gave us a better peek at the impending model with the release of the first teaser for its “exciting and surprising” new EV.
A crossover coupe-like shape with a sweeping hood line is revealed in the teaser image. Additional design features including a rear lightbar across the back and Toyota’s new “hammerhead” front face appearance, which is reminiscent of the 2025 Camry, are visible in the video.
Toyota says the new EV has “surprising space” and versatility despite its small appearance, suggesting a crossover SUV.
The new model is probably the 2022 bZ Compact Crossover in production. It will join Toyota’s stable of electric vehicles in Europe, along with the bZ4X and the new Urban Cruiser SUVs. Even so, no additional information was disclosed.
The new electric crossover is anticipated to offer a couple different battery options, including 49 and 61 kWh, similar to the recently released Urban Cruiser. A comparable interior configuration with two 10.25-inch infotainment and driver displays is also probably in the works. On March 12, Toyota will formally introduce the new electric crossover.
For US consumers, the business has not yet disclosed which markets would see the introduction of the new EV. We have hope as Toyota’s new $14 billion EV battery plant in the US becomes ready to ship batteries in April. Recently, local rumours also suggested that Toyota is moving away from the “bZ” nomenclature system and may introduce an electric RAV4.
