With the Windsor EV, JSW MG has completely outperformed the competition. For the eighth straight month, the crossover remained India’s top EV. Given that the EV was introduced in September 2024, it’s quite remarkable. With the introduction of the Windsor EV Pro, which has a bigger battery and Level 2 ADAS safety features, MG Motor has made the decision to boost the ante. We examine its competitors to see what electric SUVs fall within the Rs 20 lakh price range.
Tata Nexon EV
There are two battery capacities for the Nexon: 30 kWh and 45 kWh. The former produces the same amount of torque (215 Nm) and 127.3 and 142 horsepower. The top trim can reach 100 km/h in 9 seconds, while the medium-range variant can do it in 9.2 seconds. Tata states that the medium-range Nexon EV and the 45 model have real-world mileages of 201 to 230 km and 350 to 375 km, respectively, with three drive modes—Eco, City, and Sport—and four regeneration levels. Ex-showroom prices for the Nexon EV MR series start at Rs 12.49 lakh, while the long range is Rs 13.99 lakh.
Mahindra XUV 400
Many people may have forgotten that Mahindra’s most economical EV, the XUV 400, was introduced after the BE 6 and XEV 9e. The EV, which comes in two trim levels (EC Pro and EL Pro), is still widely accessible. The earlier version produces 148 horsepower and 310 Nm and is powered by a 34.5 kWh battery. Its range, according to MIDC, is 359 kilometres. According to MIDC, the EL Pro has two battery options: 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh, with ranges of 359 and 456 kilometres. Both batteries continue to provide the same amount of power. Ex-showroom, the XUV 400 costs between Rs 15.49 lakh and Rs 17.69 lakh.
Tata Curvv EV
The only EV coupe SUV on this list, the Curvv, makes a big impression with its appearance. There are two battery packs for the Curvv EV: 45 kWh and 55 kWh. The base model produces 215 Nm of torque and 147 horsepower. It takes 9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The stated driving range of this model is 430 km. The top model has a 55 kWh battery, 165 horsepower, 215 Nm, and a 502 km stated range. The highest 55 kWh model costs Rs 22.24 lakh, ex-showroom, while the Curvv 45 range starts at Rs 17.49 lakh.
Hyundai Creta Electric
The Hyundai Creta, the top-selling mid-size SUV, is now offered in electric form. It comes in two varieties: the conventional 42 kWh model and the long-range 51.4 kWh model. The previous model boasts a 390 km stated range and a power output of 133 horsepower. The 51.4 kWh model produces 169 horsepower and has a 473 km stated driving range. Hyundai claims that the Creta Electric can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Ex-showroom, the Creta Electric 42 kWh model costs Rs 17.99 lakh, while the 51.4 kWh range costs between Rs 21.50 lakh and Rs 24.38 lakh.
Mahindra BE 6
After the Curvv EV, the BE 6 is the second-born electric car on this list. The 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs are the largest available for the futuristic EV SUV. One of the five versions of the former is equipped with a 79 kWh battery. Pack One, Pack Two, and Pack Three are the three main versions of the trims; only the last one comes with a 79 kWh battery. Based on MIDC P1 + P2, the 59 kWh model generates an amazing 228 horsepower and has a 557 km range. Based on MIDC P1 + P2, the Pack Three can produce 281 horsepower and travel 683 km. Ex-showroom, the BE 6 costs between Rs 19.96 lakh and Rs 27.65 lakh.
