ThunderPlus, one of India’s fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure companies, is undertaking a first-of-its-kind electric mobility road journey across Andhra Pradesh to build confidence among EV users and demonstrate that India’s EV charging infrastructure is now ready for long-distance travel.

In a real-world validation of charging readiness, Rajeev YSR, Executive Director & CEO of ThunderPlus, is travelling entirely on electric vehicles from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam, covering key locations including Suryapet, Gollapudi (Vijayawada), Nallajerla (Eluru) and Vizag, with charging exclusively at ThunderPlus stations. The journey aims to prove that long-distance EV travel in India is no longer a gamble, but a confidence-driven reality powered by dependable, ultra-fast infrastructure.

Designed as a live travel blog and real-time demonstration, the road trip highlights how strategically placed ultra-fast chargers across the corridor eliminate range anxiety, ensure predictable travel, and make highway EV journeys effortless.

“This journey is not about proving whether EVs can travel long distances, that debate is over,” said Rajeev YSR, Executive Director & CEO, ThunderPlus. “It is about proving that the charging infrastructure is up to the task. With ultra-fast chargers deployed at the right locations, EV travel becomes stress-free, reliable and commercially viable for families, daily commuters and large fleets alike.”

As part of the journey, ThunderPlus is showcasing some of its highest-capacity charging hubs across key locations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These include a 480 kW charging hub in Hyderabad and a 560 kW ultra-fast charging station in Suryapet near Hotel Logili, designed to support rapid top-ups for long-distance travelers. The route further highlights a 500 kW charging facility at Gollapudi near the CA Convention Centre in Vijayawada, ensuring strong charging availability in a major transit corridor. Additionally, ThunderPlus is featuring 240 kW charging stations at Nallajerla in Eluru and on Beach Road in Visakhapatnam, expanding reliable fast-charging access to important urban and coastal destinations.

Across all these locations, the journey demonstrates the effectiveness of opportunity charging, where vehicles were able to reach up to 80% charge in just around 20 minutes, significantly reducing halt times and making long-distance EV travel practical and time-efficient.

Beyond charging performance, the road trip also brings forward key insights into how EV infrastructure must evolve. It reinforces that charging stations cannot thrive in isolation. For highways and intercity corridors, charging hubs must be integrated with hotels, rest areas and recreational facilities, enabling travellers to utilise charging time productively and comfortably.

The journey also reflects the changing expectations of EV users. With improved vehicle range and battery capacity, 30 kW and 60 kW chargers are no longer considered fast for highway travel. Demand is rapidly shifting towards 120 kW, 240 kW and higher-capacity chargers, which support seamless intercity movement and fleet operations.

ThunderPlus charging stations along the route are engineered to inspire confidence, not merely facilitate charging. With high uptime, robust reliability and fleet-ready scalability, the network efficiently supports private cars, taxis and commercial EVs. Seamless digital access enables easy station discovery, payments and real-time support.

From once being isolated installations, EV charging stations have now evolved into a connected mobility backbone, supporting tourism, logistics and long-distance travel.

The journey will be documented through travel blogs, videos, photographs and on-ground stories, capturing:

      • Real charging experiences and actual halt durations
      • Highway and city EV readiness
      • Local conversations and consumer sentiment on EV adoption
      • How reliable charging influences route planning and travel behaviour

Beyond Andhra Pradesh, ThunderPlus plans to extend similar high-speed charging corridors to Bhubaneswar, Chennai and Bengaluru, while deepening collaborations with hotels and highway destinations to build integrated, destination-led charging ecosystems.

Beyond storytelling, the initiative reinforces ThunderPlus’ philosophy of “confidence-first infrastructure”, where EV adoption is driven by dependable access and real-world usability.

“As India moves towards large-scale electrification, charging infrastructure will determine the pace of adoption,” added Rajeev YSR. “This Andhra Pradesh road trip offers a powerful glimpse of how robust charging networks are silently enabling the future of mobility.”
