ThunderPlus, a pioneering name in India’s electric vehicle (EV) space, is driving the country’s clean mobility revolution with its innovative, homegrown charging solutions. A brand by Trinity Cleantech Pvt. Ltd., ThunderPlus leverages over 30 years of expertise in power electronics to develop cutting-edge EV chargers for a wide range of applications—from residential communities to highways, public transport hubs, and industrial fleets.

What makes ThunderPlus stand out is its status as India’s one of the few vertically integrated EV charging companies . Everything—from design and manufacturing to deployment and maintenance—is managed in-house. This gives them unmatched agility, quality control, and the ability to rapidly scale across India. With 5,000+ AC and DC chargers already installed in 15+ cities, they offer solutions for every vehicle type—two-wheelers, cars, trucks, buses, and more.

From community charging stations and “Park and Charge” setups in urban areas to heavy-duty industrial chargers and EV-ready post offices, ThunderPlus is building a truly inclusive EV ecosystem. Their flagship chargers like Thunder Tej and Thunder Lite are transforming urban mobility, making charging faster, easier, and more accessible for all.

Strategic partnerships with Delhi Metro, Bharat Petroleum, Indian Railways, and Tata Motors are further accelerating their nationwide impact. The company is also investing in futuristic technologies such as wireless charging, mobile charging vans, and methanol-based off-grid power.

Through an affordable franchise model starting at ₹6 lakh, ThunderPlus is empowering local entrepreneurs to join the EV movement—driving India’s green mobility mission forward, one charge at a time.

In a recent interview, Rashmi interacted with Rajeev YSR CEO of ThunderPlus in which she discussed Vertically Integrated EV Charging, Multi-Vehicle Fast Charging Station, Franchise Model for Tier 2 & Tier 3 Cities, and EV Innovation (Wireless, Mobile Charging, MEEnergy) etc.

      1. What sets ThunderPlus apart as a vertically integrated EV charging company?

ThunderPlus is unique in the EV space as India’s sole vertically integrated EV charging company, a distinction few achieve in the industry. We do it all in-house, from designing and producing EV chargers to installation, operations, and maintenance. This complete control from start to finish enables us to provide faster deployment, increased cost savings, and consistent performance throughout our network. Our combined model eliminates third-party reliance, allowing us to be agile to scale, ensure quality, and innovate at pace. It also implies that we can tailor charging solutions for various vehicle types right from 2 wheelers to heavy trucks and buses and various applications such as residential, commercial, or fleet-based operations providing a seamless and cohesive EV charging experience to our partners and users.

      2. How has your charger range, like Thunder Tej and Thunder Lite, impacted urban mobility?

Our chargers range vary from Thunder Lite 3.3 KW AC a universal charger to Thunder Octopus a 240 KW dynamic charger that can charge 8 cars simultaneously or one bus dispensing from 30KW to 240 KW basis the load it is subjected to thus catering the needs from 2 wheelers to buses.

Apart from this we are the first company to launch Thunder Tej, a 12 KW LEVDC charger which can charge an electric 2 wheeler in 10 mins and 3 wheeler in 30 mins and thus promote through a campaign called #ChaiPeCharge. This is a game changer for fleet and last mile mobility solutions allowing them to spend less time charging and more time delivering With lower charging time and high throughput, it provides greater vehicle uptime for delivery and ride-sharing operators.

At the same time, Thunder Lite provides an affordable, one-size-fits-all charging solution for 2W, 3W, and 4W vehicles. It is lightweight, simple to install, and perfect for residential societies, gated communities, and small businesses, making EV charging more accessible and is promoted through a campaign called #HarGharThunder.
Combined, these chargers facilitate a more connected, efficient, and sustainable urban mobility infrastructure.

      3. How have collaborations with entities like Delhi Metro, Bharat Petroleum, and South Central Railway influenced ThunderPlus’s expansion in India’s EV charging sector?

Our collaborations with major public and private players have been instrumental in expediting ThunderPlus’s reach throughout India. With Delhi Metro, we are bringing our chargers into the core of city public transport, making it easy for daily travelers and promoting green mobility. Through Bharat Petroleum, we are placing fast charging at fuel pumps, facilitating the shift from fossil fuel to clean energy at locations people know and trust. Our partnership with South Central Railway and 150+ railway stations has been key in driving charging to transit points, unlocking high-density passenger and fleet access zones. Such partnerships represent strategic alignment with India’s infrastructure agenda and reinforcing our vision of building a country-wide EV ecosystem.

      4. Tell us more about India’s first multi-vehicle fast charging station and EV-ready post office.

ThunderPlus made history with the launch of India’s first multi-vehicle fast charging station, a single platform that can handle 2W, 3W, 4W, and buses under one roof. This all-encompassing design is designed for India’s heterogeneity of vehicles and provides modular, high-speed charging without the need for multiple infrastructure setups. It’s an innovation that facilitates universal access, scalability, and intelligent urban planning.

Moreover, our EV-ready post office in Hyderabad is a one-of-a-kind project. Through the electrification of a heritage government building, we demonstrated how old institutions can be reimagined to be future-proof and in line with sustainability objectives. This project represents the marriage of innovation and heritage, providing a model for future-ready public services in India.

      5. What opportunities does your ₹6 lakh franchise model offer local entrepreneurs?

ThunderPlus franchise model, from as low as ₹6 lakh, is envisioned to enable grassroots entrepreneurs, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns, to participate in the clean mobility revolution. The model is a plug-and-play infrastructure coupled with end-to-end support in the form of equipment, backend technology, real-time data accessibility, and maintenance. We provide guaranteed monthly revenues, supported by ThunderPlus’s brand reputation and proven partner network. It’s a high-impact, low-risk chance for small businesses and individuals to get into the EV market, generate local jobs, and help drive the region’s green mobility revolution while reaping the rewards of the EV industry’s explosive growth curve.

      6. What future technologies—like wireless and mobile charging—are you developing?

At the heart of ThunderPlus lies innovation. We’re investing in next-gen technologies such as:

We have recently acquired a German company called MEEnergy, which can generate energy instantly from Methanol and Ethanol and charge vehicles at 150KWh capacity; and this works completely independent of the Grid.

      • Wireless charging, which will eliminate cables altogether and facilitate automatic vehicle charging through inductive pads—perfect for fleets and smart cities.
      • Cluster EV charging, a scalable solution that is meant to charge several EVs at once in a shared environment such as offices or apartments – already established in Hyderabad.
      • Mobile EV charging vans, which provide on-demand roadside charging assistance and are particularly helpful in emergency or remote use cases.

These technologies seek to simplify charging, making it more convenient, accessible, and efficient, opening up new applications and taking away barriers to EV adoption.

      7. How is your collaboration with Tata Motors and Indian Railways shaping EV infrastructure?

Our partnership with Tata Motors is aimed at constructing 250 high-speed chargers to serve the fast-expanding fleet ecosystem. The chargers will provide quick turnaround and operational efficiency for electric vehicles and commercial EVs.

At the same time, our collaborative effort with Indian Railways will have EV charging facilities set up at 150+ railway stations in the first phase, turning them into green mobility hubs. This collaboration takes advantage of the enormous reach and visibility of Indian Railways to make EV usage mainstream and large-scale across the nation. These partnerships are not merely about infrastructure but about creating the foundation for India’s next-generation clean mobility network.
