ThunderPlus, one of India’s fastest-growing EV charging networks, has inaugurated Andhra Pradesh’s first women-owned EV charging station, setting a new benchmark in both sustainable mobility and inclusive entrepreneurship.
A Landmark Launch
The charging station, located at Hotel Vijayashree on NH-16 between Vijayawada and Guntur, is expected to become a strategic stop for electric vehicle users. With an initial 50 kW capacity, the facility is designed to be expandable up to 1 MW as demand rises.
It is equipped with one 30 kW DC CCS2 fast charger and two 3.3 kW AC chargers, enabling charging for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers.
Women Leading the Charge
The station is owned and operated by Mrs Leela Lakshmi, a homemaker turned entrepreneur. She expressed pride in breaking barriers, stating, “This isn’t just about charging vehicles; it’s about charging dreams. I hope more women step into technology-driven businesses and contribute to India’s green future.”
Empowering Entrepreneurs
Speaking at the launch, Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus, said, “We aim to eliminate charging anxiety while giving everyday people, including women and homemakers, an opportunity to be part of the EV revolution. This is not just infrastructure—it is empowerment.”
Policy Push for EVs
The initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Sustainable Electric Mobility Policy 4.0 (2024), which promotes widespread EV adoption and aims to strengthen the state’s charging infrastructure by 2029.
